Passenger marina and mooring point on the Oder River
location: Brzeg Dolny
investor: Municipal Council of the City of Brzeg Dolny
area: ca 1 ha
project year: 2012

The subject of this design project is a concept for the construction of a passenger and recreational marina and mooring point on the Oder River in Brzeg Dolny. The area under consideration is part of the „Natura 2000” protected area, known as „Odrzańskie Łęgi”. The project involves the functional joining of the mooring point together with the planned outdoor steps to the area planned for the Dolnobrzeski Cultural Centre.
The marina is located in a cove between two spurs of land projecting into the river above the ferry crossing, and will be one of the first significant water transport passenger marinas along the Oder downriver from Wrocław, and is expected to activate and bind together the tourist route along the Oder from Brzeg Dolny to the Wrocław Water System. The passenger marina is planned service passenger vessels of 80 to 100 tonnes of the Oder „white fleet” carrying up to 100 passengers.
The mooring point is located on the axis of the palace and park complex in a cove between land spurs, at the foot of the embankment leading to the palace, crowned with a stone retaining wall. The main function of the mooring point is to provide short-term mooring for private tourist vessels for the time necessary for visiting the palace and park complex and the city centre of Brzeg Dolny.
